Il cantiere Domenico Tramontin e Figli costruisce gondole dal 1884. E’ stato fornitore dei Reali Savoia, della Prefettura, del Comune di Venezia, della Questura e del Comando dei Carabinieri. I legni vengono ancora lavorati per la gran parte a mano e utilizzando gli attrezzi di base dell’antica arte: ascia, pialla, sega e martello. Le curvature delle tavole sono ottenute esclusivamente bagnando e scaldando il legno con il fuoco, che è ancora oggi il metodo più efficace e rispettoso delle sue fibre.

The Domenico Tramontin e Figli boatyard was founded in 1884. It has built gondolas for – amongst others – the Italian Royal Family, the Prefecture, the Venice Municipality, the City Police and the Carabinieri. The wood is still worked mostly by hand using the basic tools of the ancient art of Venetian boatbuilding: axe, plane saw and hammer. The lengths of wood are curved by soaking with water and heating with fire – still the most effective method that avoids damaging the wood fibres.
